Direct TV Overview
The Direct TV content or channels are sent from the Direct TV Program Source to the Direct TV Distribution Centre and from there they get beamed via Geo-synchronous Satellite to your home. There the Satellite Dish picks up the signal which has been Compressed & Encrypted. Your Satellite Receiver decodes the signal and sends it to your TV
How Direct TV Works - Topics
| Direct TV Program Source Content for Direct TV comes from 2 different types of sources: there are national providers such as HBO, ESPN and CNN and the local channels like NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS and Fox affiliates in particular areas.
| | Geo-synchronous Satellites Geo-synchronous satellites remain in the same point in the sky and orbit at 22,000 miles or 35,700 km above the planet and travelling at a speed of 7,000 mph or 11,000 kph. | | Direct TV Distribution Center All the Direct TV programs and channels are mixed into a single signal that is beamed out to the satellites and then into your homes from the Direct TV Distribution Center. | | Satellite Dish The satellite dish is a directional antenna designed to focus on a specific point. The standard satellite dish antenna is a parabolic dish made out of or coated in radio reflective material, which forms a concave lens with a feed horn located at its focus.
| | Satellite Receiver The Satelitte Receiver decodes the signal so that your TV can display the channel. | |
